Introduction

The ICT (Instituto Científico y Tecnológico de Navarra, S.A.) is a non-profit organisation, promoted by the University of Navarra, who aim is to help establish a collaboration between enterprises and the University.

Since it was incorporated in 1986, the mission of ICT has been to act as a link between university researchers and enterprises in order to facilitate and promote research and boost the transfer of knowledge and research results generated at the University.

The ICT is the Research Results Transfer Office (OTRI) of the University of Navarra and is integrated into the Spanish Universities OTRI Network.

Furthermore, the ICT is an Innovation Relay Centre integrated into the Innovation Relay Centres (IRCs) of the European Commission through the consortium IRC CENEO.

LABORATORIES/STANDARDISED AND APPROVED TESTS

Toxicology Laboratory

Standardised toxicological tests with certification of compliance with Best Laboratory Practices principles (BLP).

Tests accredited by the Spanish National Accreditation Body (ENAC) for the determination of Ocratoxin A (OTA) in foodstuff.
Microbiology Laboratories

Foodstuff Microbiology. Microbiological tests accredited by the Spanish National Accreditation Body (ENAC).
Water Microbiology. Tests accredited by the Spanish National Accreditation Body (ENAC) for the determination of Legionella, Pseudomona aeruginosa, Enterococcus, coliforms and E. coli in water.
Microbiology (BLP). Standardised sterility and microbiological tests with certification of compliance with Best Laboratory Practices (BLP).

Instrumental Techniques Laboratory

Certified tests in compliance with Best Laboratory Practices (BLP) principles in stability studies on medicines, pharmacokinetics and determination of drugs in biological samples.

Building Laboratory

Accredited test laboratory for the quality control of buildings in the control area of reinforced and mass concrete and its components: cement, aggregates, water, steel for frames, additions and additives (HA).

SERVICES

Animal Identification Service

Service offered by the Zoology and Ecology Department for the identification of animals that cause damage to food products, wood, crops, etc.

HACCP System Implementation Unit in the Hotel and Catering Sector.

Consultancy service offered by the Microbiology and Parasitology Department for the implementation and monitoring of the HACCP Service (RD 3484/2000. BOE 12/01/01) in the hotel and catering sector.

Products and Technologies in different development stages and regarding which requests for patents have generally been presented:

1) Production of liposomes, microparticles and nanoparticles by turbulent coaxial injection. Spanish patent 2134130B

2) Production of microparticles by TROMS. Spanish patent 2160089B

3) Poly nanoparticles (methylvinylether-co-maleic anhydride). International Application PCT WO 02/069938

4) Sub-cellular vaccine against Brucella
